Those two words pretty much sum up my goals for 2008 in about every aspect of my life. Live intentionally. But to be honest, here I sit over half way through January, and I can’t say that I’ve been very intentional so far this year. So I am rededicating myself to being intentional. Be intentional in my faith…in the time I spend with God…and intentionally dive deeper. Be intentional in my nutrition and fitness goals. Be intentional in the free time I spend with the kids each night. Intentionally keep the house clean and organized. Be intentional in my relationships with my friends. Intentionally reach out to those around me.
Okay…so I need a thesaurus. But, you get the idea. I’ve always found that if I write things down, I’m much more likely to accomplish them. Plus, I figure I’m surely not the only person who struggles with this. So, I have two specific goals in the next couple of days.
1) Write down a weekly schedule. Carve out the time amidst all the activities. Think of how I’ll spend time with the kids in our down time. Carve out time to get the cleaning and next day prep done before I go to bed.
2) Get back into my fitness routine. I’ve simply just been lazy. Sure, I can blame the fact that I’ve not been feeling that great, but honestly…I just haven’t wanted to get out of bed. My eating habits aren’t helping lately. I’ve got to get back to being healthy.

Here is my website of the day. If you are wanting to lose weight, or just be healthier, check out www.sparkpeople.com. I just recently got connected with it. It’s free…and it is really motiviating. There are a ton of tools, resources and support…and it’s an interactive way to track your progress towards your individual goals.

Yes, I realize I am slacking on the blogging. This always seems to happen. My best intentions to update daily, or at least every couple of days leads to long silence in between posts.
We have just been very busy with life at our house. Mondays are really our only free night between Life Group, Wednesday Night church and gymnastics. Plus the last two Friday nights, I have been cropping with the girls. I will hopefully have some pics of the pages I did over the weekend. Once they are completed (I still have some work to do on them with my Cricut), my year-to-date count will be 15 pages.
In other news, Abbie’s first tooth is loose. She has been wiggling it non-stop. My prediction is that it will be out by tomorrow evening, if not sooner! She is quite excited.
The kids are enjoying gymnastics and swimming. It’s nice that they have something very active twice a week in the winter months. They are both just fish in the water. I can’t even explain how thrilling it is to see Peyton’s smile as he ’swims’. Maybe I can post some video sometime (if I figure out how to do that).
We are all going to enjoy our day off tomorrow (Martin Luther King Day). I have a dream…of sleeping in a little bit in the morning. We’ll see if that happens! I will try and post again tomorrow!!!

So this morning, both of our kids have hit mini-milestones!
1) Peyton’s big milestone of being potty-trained right at Christmas has been followed up by his first night sleeping in his underwear. He’s been doing so well with no night time accidents, but we had kept a pullup on him…no longer!!!
2) Abbie has been wondering when she is going to lose her first tooth. Apparently, several of the kids in her class have been losing their teeth. This morning she was complaining about her tooth hurting when she was eating her apple. Jason checked her mouth, and sure enough…the tooth next to the one hurting is loose! I imagine sometime this week we will be getting a visit from the tooth fairy!

Friday night my mother-in-law, Debbie and I went to a crop with some friends of mine. I had high hopes to get 12 pages done. Of course, that didn’t happen, but I did make progress on 6 pages! 4 of them are completely done (3 layouts) and one 2 page layout is still in the works.
The first two pages were part of a challenge on Two Peas, where we were given layouts to use as inspiration. Here are my takes…
The last one was one I hadn’t planned on doing, but found a scalloped circle I really liked and wanted to scrap it!

Yea! I finally uploaded pictures!!! So now I’m in business. First…a couple of layouts that I completed. Here’s the one I did last Thursday at the crop, even though I haven’t changed what I didn’t like yet (I think I want the title bigger and fix my doodling around the circle).
Here is a layout I cracked out tonight for a sketch challenge at my local scrapbook store. Initially, I didn’t really like the sketch, but decided to scrap these Illini pics of the kids. I’ve had them forever, and finally picked up some Illinois papers while back home over New Years’. It’s definitely bright and themed, but I think I’m happy with it.
I’ve been busy tonight. I figured I would go ahead and get my photography assignment done. Since it’s still raining outside, I thought I’d try this. I still want to play with something outdoors though too, once I can stand on the ground without sinking in. The f-stops on the following pictures are (top to bottom) 4.5, 9, 29. Theoretically, there should be less of the picture in focus in the first, more as you progress. I was focusing on the top of the green ball. I’m such a rookie.
I think I will post the much awaited New Year’s Day photos tomorrow to save this from being a VERY long post…and I’m quite tired. Until tomorrow.

Peyton had a really hard time going to sleep last night. Really hard…like he was up at 10:30. So I took him into my room and laid down with him. I know, not a good thing…but I was desperate, and he always falls asleep in there.
After about 3 or 4 minutes of just laying there, he looks up to me and asks, “Mom…when will I be old enough so I can date someone?”
After about a minute of non-stop laughter, I told him to go ask his dad (who was in the office across the hall). I hear him repeat his question to Jason, whose response was, “when you’re about sixteen”. Peyton comes back into the room and as he’s climbing over me says, “Daddy says when I’m six.”
Yep…heartbreaker in the making.

Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t particularly care for New Year’s Resolutions, yet every year I set goals for myself. What is the difference? I don’t know…semantics really. For some reason, the idea of resolutions just asks for them to be forgotten. This year I have so many goals for myself in different areas of my life. As far as my somewhat newly-found hobby, I have set several goals.
-
Complete 100-125 scrapbook pages (which comes out to around 2-3 a week).
-
Play around with “altered items”.
-
Learn to really use my new camera.
So I figure…one goal at a time. As of today, I have only completed 1 scrapbook page (which I’ll post as soon as I change something I don’t like!). Of those three goals, the one I really want to get a jumpstart on is learning to use my camera. I got a Nikon D40x (Digital SLR) for my birthday in September, and while I love the clearer images and fast shutter speed, I am certainly not using it to it’s full potential.
Fortunately, Two Peas is doing a 12 week online photography class. If you love scrapbooking, this is absolutely the BEST website for you…period. There are a ton of great layouts to be inspired by, articles on new techniques, and the message boards are fun too. Anyway, if you are like me and would like to start learning more about your camera, check out the PDF from Week 1: Aperature. It is the whole first lesson, plus the photography “homework” for the week. I’m looking forward to finally making some headway in this area.

Wow! What a weekend! I actually didn’t do anything on the internet, which is pretty amazing. I didn’t scrapbook much either, but I am prepping for a crop on Friday night and hope to get a lot of pages done then. The good news is I have found my camera cord, so look for another post tonight with PICTURES from New Year’s, etc. Finally!!!
In the middle of the night Saturday/Sunday, Peyton started vomitting–so I got the pleasure of spending most of the night up with him flinching at every sound that began to represent a cough, hoping not to have to go through too many towels and sheets. Of course he was fine by morning, and was very upset that I wouldn’t let him go to church. Abbie…being the sweetheart that she is, brought Peyton the nicest card home from church that had “I love you Peyton” written all over it. She is such a great sister.
All in all, the weekend was pretty calm. I read two books (well, I’ll finish the 2nd tonight probably), which I hadn’t had time to do in quite a while! Now it’s off to start a FULL work week (I don’t know if I remember that!).
Happy Monday!!!

Unfortunately, I haven’t had too much to blog about because things have been VERY busy the last couple of days. I am SO looking forward to this weekend and getting to spend some quality time with my family.
The cord is still MIA, so my picture uploading is still on hold.
Hopefully it will be found today now that I have some time to really look for it.
More to come…
No, no, no…there are no new Gordon children on the way. But Peyton has been quite obsessed lately with women who have babies in their tummy. My brother and sister-in-law are expecting their first child in July, and another Patty (a friend at church) is expecting her little guy to make his appearance any day. Peyton is always shoving Abbie’s dolls up his shirt and saying he has a baby in his tummy. It’s just been his thing lately.
So, yesterday we hosted a New Years/Rose Bowl party (we actually ‘crashed’ my in-laws’ while they were in CA at the Rose Bowl). We had a really nice time catching up with friends! As soon as I locate the cord to upload my pictures, I’ll get those posted and you can see how much “fun” the kids were having. We actually only had one moderate incident which included play kitchen dishes, the bathroom sink, and a lot of wet, wet clothes.
Well, Peyton and Drake both claimed responsibility for the conception of that idea, and I had Peyton in one of the back bedrooms to have a ‘conversation’ following his time out. It went a little like this…
Me–”Peyton, are we supposed to play with water like that?”
Peyton–”Mommy, do you have a baby in your tummy?”
Me (thinking that I need to clarify to avoid any annoucements when we walk out of the room)– “No, Peyton…I do not have a baby in my tummy. (Do I look like I have a baby in my tummy? Yikes!). Peyton, You know we aren’t supposed to play with water like that.”
Peyton–”But I was in your tummy, and Abbie was in your tummy, but you don’t have one right now?”
This went on for a little while…I’m sure he soaked up every bit of the conversation and will never dump water on his friends again. I’m just hoping he soaked up the part about Mommy NOT having a baby in her tummy!!!
